If you read my trend report over at Rock On Mommies, you know that color, pattern and FUN are going to be big this summer in interior design.

If you read my last post, you know that April is “Share the Comfort” month at Private Quarters. My team’s shelter for this promotion is the Genesis International Orphanage Foundation. I am having special online fundraiser on my PQ website for this organization. From now until April 20th, Private Quarters will donate 15% of my total retail sales (as long as they add up to more than $500) in badly needed bedding and linens to the orphans of the Genesis foundation. TREND REPORT: Neutral with a touch of color

This is the time of year when I pore over all the new collections, not just at the design centers but in shelter magazines from all over the world. If you’re a lover of design magazines like me, you might have spotted one of my favorite trends for spring-neutral palettes sprinkled with just touch of vibrant color. In this month’s Elle Decoration UK, for example, there was a beautiful spread featuring white and gray interiors with a few bright yellow elements thrown in-how fresh!

I have always used this techniques in bedrooms. So often you’re “between laundry cycles” and yet you want everything to look coordinated. A great way to pull off a pulled-together look is by keeping your sheets, duvet and blankets or quilts neutral and bringing in color with throw pillows, throws or bedshawls. There are so many ways to play with this trend! You can keep everything earthy and “zen”:

Or you can create a chic, metropolitan look by adding pink to gray and white scheme:

You can even switch things around and use color as your “neutral” (just be sure it’s a color you can live with every day) like the way the green here has a “pop” of white:

Here the blue is the “neutral” and the chocolate brown is the accent:

I like the way this trend looks coordinated without being too “matchy-matchy.” It’s so easy and livable-I hope you’ll be inspired to try it in your own home!

I’ve had a blizzard of emails with questions on these two topics, so I thought I’d answer them in a post

1. Can I shop Private Quarters from you online?

2. Don’t you always have a huge Clearance Sale in January?

Sure do! This year (2011) our clearance sale will run from January 5 to January 31 (or while supplies last). You’ll be able to save 40-70 percent on selected items. I don’t know just yet which items are going to be included in this year’s sale, but as SOON as I do, I’ll be posting them here at The Blissful Bed and Bath! I’ll also include some personal recommendations to help you choose from all the fabulous bargains on offer-stay tuned!
